I come to this May pondering with a deep awareness of the ‘both/and’ in my life and in human experience. What do I mean? Some examples, I hope, will clarify.
At Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Newton Grove, NC, in the diocese of Raleigh, a group of 16 people—mostly married couples—have been encouraged to get to know, and live more closely, the Redemptorist spirituality and charisma inspired by our founding father, Saint Alfonsus. For the last 10 years—after a 62 year absence—they have taken up following the religious life, missionary work and Christian witness of the Redemption missionaries.
While preparing this year’s booklet, I revisited past editions for inspiration and then came across The Road to Calvary: Daily Meditations for Lent by St. Alphonsus Liguori, the founder of the Redemptorists.
