Please join us in praying for James McCabe, C.Ss.R., who will be ordained a transitional deacon Saturday during a 10 a.m. Mass in the Crypt Chapel of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. McCabe will be ordained alongside three other religious order seminarians.

Redemptorist Associates spent last weekend on retreat at San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, NJ. The theme of the weekend was "treasuring and pondering." Throughout the retreat, participants were reminded to "be still" and remember the presence of God.

Congratulations to two of our Redemptorist students who professed vows recently. Frater Kevin Bellott made his final profession and Frater Jacky Merilan professed his first vows last week. Since October 2009, the Redemptorists of the Baltimore Province have offered daily audio homilies on our Web site. Short reflections on the day’s Gospel reading, in English and Spanish, provide listeners with a moment of prayer and some spiritual food for thought.

More than 60 young adults from across the U.S. and Canada joined the Redemptorists at Notre Dame Retreat House in Canandaigua, NY, last week for Dialogue 2010. The annual retreat attracts participants (lay people and Redemptorists alike) from a wide territory — from Alberta, Canada to Hampton, VA, and from Boston, MA to Trinidad, West Indies.

Please join us in praying for two Redemptorist students who will be professing vows August 11 in Dominica, West Indies. Kevin Bellott (left) will take his final vows as a Redemptorist, and Jacky Merilan (below, right) will profess first vows during the Mass that will also celebrate the jubilee anniversaries of several Redemptorists who are serving in the English-speaking Region of the Caribbean.

Father Joseph Tobin, a Redemptorist of the Denver Province and Superior General Emeritus, has been picked by Pope Benedict XVI to be the secretary of the Congregation for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.
