Greetings from Peace River, Alberta, Canada, and the Parish of Our Lady of Peace!
The mission here is going very well. We have had a full church each night, which surprised both the people and ourselves since it was not expected. The Archbishop and parish did a remarkable job in raising good publicity for the mission.
I am preaching with Father David Louch of the Edmonton-Toronto Province. One suprise has been the Catholic schools. Since Alberta law specifically mandates that the government must fund the Catholic schools, there are many fine Catholic schools that are supported with public funds, and we have been visiting the students in these schools.
It’s great to be on mission of the day of the our founding. St. Alphonsus’ main work at the start of the Redemptorists was preaching missions.
Happy Birthday to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer!
— Very Rev. Patrick Woods, C.Ss.R.
