For 20 years the Church has observed the annual World Day for Consecrated Life—a celebration begun by Pope St. John Paul II—on the Feast of the Presentation (Candlemas), February 2.
The occasion will be marked in parishes on the following weekend, February 4-5, 2017.
“Our Holy Father Francis has given the Church this special opportunity to pray for all those women and men in consecrated life who have given their lives in love to God,” writes Cardinal Joseph Tobin, C.Ss.R., of New Jersey, the chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life, and Vocations.
“This prayer may prompt each of us to ask, ‘How is God calling me to give of myself this day, that I might know the deeper joy of service to God and others?’”
Please pray for vocations to the Redemptorists and to all religious communities.
