Lenten reflection, day 7

man prayingMy father died when I was only two and a half. Later I loved to listen to the song Liebesträume, “Dreams of Love,” and my mom told me it had been my father’s favorite. Then I knew I had listened to it while sitting on my father’s lap.

“Dreams of Love” sings of loving as long as one can, with the most perfect love. Jesus taught us the Our Father so we would know that our Heavenly Father is always near us, always loving us, always giving us heavenly and even earthly bread, always freeing us from evil and from terrorism, especially in these difficult times.

We ask our Heavenly Father, particularly during these days of Lent, to forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have hurt us. That song I listened to with my father, “Dreams of Love,” is about God’s love.

Lent is a time for you and me to dream of love—God’s dream of love, which he would dream on the cross and then share with us when he rose to new life on Easter Sunday.
