Young adults explore their gifts at Dialogue 2010

More than 60 young adults from across the U.S. and Canada joined the Redemptorists at Notre Dame Retreat House in Canandaigua, NY, last week for Dialogue 2010. The annual retreat attracts participants (lay people and Redemptorists alike) from a wide territory — from Alberta, Canada to Hampton, VA, and from Boston, MA to Trinidad, West Indies.

The theme of this year’s retreat was "Opening the Gift," and reflections and group activities focused on discovering the gifts God has given each person, and how he calls us to use them. Each day included morning and evening prayer, as well as Mass. In the evenings, retreatants and Redemptorists enjoyed an "Amazing Race"-themed game throughout the retreat house grounds, a picnic on the lake, a bonfire, and a night for the sacrament of reconciliation.

One afternoon was spent in service to the surrounding community. Two small groups helped construct a new park walkway and sort donated food items for a local foodbank, while the rest of the group trimmed shrubs and pulled weeds for a subsidized housing neighborhood.
