The Neumann Year in Review

Though St. John Neumann was known to be a “man of the people,” he might have found himself a little embarrassed by all the attention he received during the Neumann Year, an 18-month celebration of his life, legacy and example of holiness.

Here’s a look at the year by the numbers:
  • 9 Neumann-themed parish missions
  • 6 Forty Hours Eucharistic Devotions
  • 19-city relic tour covering 4 states and Washington, D.C.
  • 3 special Masses at the Shrine of St. John Neumann
  • 1 prayer service for Catholic schools
  • 2,800+ entries in the nationwide St. John Neumann Essay Contest

We’ll close the Neumann Year with Mass and a reception Saturday, June 23 in Philadelphia. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul. Archbishop Charles Chaput is scheduled to be the main celebrant, and Redemptorist Archbishop Joseph Tobin will be the homilist. Several other bishops from surrounding dioceses will also be in attendance.

The reception will immediately follow Mass at the Sheraton across the street from the cathedral. Tickets are required for the reception and must be purchased in advance. Click here to order online or call toll-free 1-877-876-7662.
