Lenten reflection, day 2

what path are you on?These days many of us use a GPS system to guide us when we travel. If we leave our chosen direction, the GPS voice calls out “recalculating” to help us get back on track.  Our spiritual journey also has a way to check our direction and to recalculate. It’s called Lent.

These early days of Lent, from Ash Wednesday to the first Sunday, are a time to select what parts of our spiritual journey we’ll be taking a look at—to see whether we’re “choosing life” as the first reading points out and truly “following the Lord” as the Gospel invites us to do.

This season of Lent is a community activity where we all decide together to recalculate and take our spiritual journey seriously. Just like a GPS speaking out to get our attention, our community of faith calls out to us to take the time to recalculate and look intensely at the path we’re on.

Our ultimate goal is not just to prepare well for Easter but actually to prepare well to celebrate eternity, the true culmination of our journey!
