Fr. George Bridge, longtime missionary in the Caribbean, dies at age 88

Redemptorist Father George Bridge died February 28 at the St. John Neumann Residence at Stella Maris in Timonium, MD. He was 88.

A viewing will be held March 4 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the main chapel at Stella Maris. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., and burial will follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Baltimore.

A native of Pittsburgh, Father Bridge was born April 16, 1922. He professed vows as a Redemptorist August 2, 1943, and was ordained to the priesthood June 20, 1948.

Father Bridge spent more than 30 years as a missionary in the Caribbean, ministering to people in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
