Birds chirp
Returning home.
Forsythias yellow.
Timid crocuses peek out.
Bold daffodils
Swirl their yellow skirts.
Its spring!
Coats become windbreakers.
Gardeners trowel the moist soil
Barbecues replace fireplaces.
Baseball returns.
Winter’s lazy muscles
Are stretched.
It’s spring!
Jesus died and was buried;
Planted like a bulb in the earth.
Then, like the first spring crocus
He bursts forth
From earth’s tomb,
Alive again!
“Death has no power over Him.”
Easter is His spring,
Easter springtime
Jesus is risen!
Alleluia!
The winter of Death
Is at an end
Our Baptismal bulbs bloom
Bursting into Resurrection life,
After death’s dark winter.
