Parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes in Seaford, DE, will celebrate the dedication of their new worship space January 16 with Wilmington Bishop Francis Malooly.
The small, country church was originally consecrated in 1949. Improvements had been made over the years, including upgrades to the restrooms, meeting spaces, and making the church handicapped accessible.
The renovations to the sanctuary included removing the original marble altar rail to open up the space, moving the tabernacle to the center behind the altar, and installing new lighting, a new sound system, and new carpet among other improvements. Much of the altar rail was used to construct a new altar and pulpit. Bishop Malooly will consecrate the new altar at a 3 p.m. Mass January 16.
