It’s been 150 years since the Redemptorists were entrusted with the ancient and miraculous icon of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. We’re holding a jubilee celebration in her honor and hope you’ll be part of it.

Special events on September 17 begin with a 2 p.m. Mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. The principal celebrant will be The Most Rev. Father Michael Brehl, C.Ss.R., the Redemptorists’ worldwide superior general.

The Mass will be televised live on EWTN, and the video feed is also being offered to New Evangelization Television (NET-TV) of the Diocese of Brooklyn and Telecare of the Diocese of Rockville Centre. If you have access to NET-TV and Telecare, please check local listings for availability.

Afterward the festivities will continue on the adjacent campus of Catholic University. At the Pryzbyla University Center, we’re hosting a reception to honor Our Mother of Perpetual Help, complete with heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, dessert, and coffee. Tickets to the reception cost $25 per person.

Please note: Tickets are no longer being sold online, but you can purchase them in the vestibule of the National Shrine before the 2 p.m. Mass on September 17.

Join us Friday, Aug. 26, through Sunday, Aug. 28, for a retreat focused on Redemptorist spirituality. The retreat begins at 6 p.m. Friday with supper and concludes with lunch at noon Sunday. Cost is $210.

The location is San Alfonso Retreat House in Long Branch, New Jersey, right on the Atlantic Ocean.

Redemptorist Fathers John McGowan and Patrick Woods have been giving this retreat for the past 15 years. All are welcome, but we offer a special invitation to those who are part of the Redemptorists as family members, friends, co-workers in our various ministries, members of Redemptorist parishes, and those who have shared in a Redemptorist mission or retreat.

We seek to make the retreat spiritually refreshing while giving participants time to relax and enjoy the wonder of God’s creation.
