Taize Prayer, Holy Redeemer Church, 173 East 3rd St, New York, NY A time for silence, song, scripture, and ritual. The song is simple — the repetition of a single line of music to put you in touch with your God. The ritual is simple — kissing, touching, hugging the cross. The scripture is brief for God to speak to you. And the silence is there to listen to God who forgives us and fills us with His compassion, a God who suffers with us. The scriptures say,"Speak Lord, for your servant listens," not "Listen Lord, for your servant speaks." Taize is a monastery in France where this type of prayer has attracted thousands of people from all over the world. For more information call Fr. Arthur Wendel at 212-673-4224. |
